Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Allern Pvt Ltd. ("Allern", "we", "us", or "our") provides an online learning platform, admin portal, and the TeachersEdge desktop app (together, the "Services") used by schools, teachers, and students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our Services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Account & enrolment data: name, email address, phone number, school/institution name, and role (student, teacher, or administrator), typically provided during onboarding or UAC code redemption.
  • Usage data: course progress, quiz scores, content accessed, login timestamps, and app/browser interactions, used to power reports and dashboards.
  • Device & technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers, collected automatically for security and performance purposes.
  • Communications: messages you send us through the contact form, email, or phone, including any details you choose to share.
  • Payment & billing data: invoice and transaction details for paid plans, processed via our payment/billing partners — we do not store full card numbers.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including course access, content delivery, and progress tracking.
  • To generate reports for teachers and school administrators (e.g. quiz results, attendance, usage summaries).
  • To respond to support requests and communicate important updates about your account or the Services.
  • To improve our platform, develop new features, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service.

3. Children's Privacy

Our Services are designed for use by students of school age, and are provided to schools who act as the primary point of contact with parents/guardians. Where a student is a minor, we rely on the school or an appropriate guardian to have obtained any consent required under applicable law before enrolling the student. We collect only the information reasonably necessary to deliver educational content and track academic progress, and we do not use student data for targeted advertising.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:

  • Schools/institutions: teachers and administrators at your school can view student progress and activity within their own institution.
  • Service providers: hosting, content delivery (CDN), payment processing, and analytics vendors who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements: when required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and role-based permissions — to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and usage data for as long as your school's subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. You or your school may request deletion of account data, subject to any record-keeping obligations we are legally required to maintain.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us (details below).
  • School administrators can manage teacher and student access through the admin portal.
  • You may opt out of non-essential communications (e.g. newsletters) at any time; we may still send essential service-related notices.

8. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our website and portal may use cookies or similar local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how our Services are used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some functionality.

9. Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or content (e.g. reference material). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and encourage you to review their policies separately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
